Opening up the Kitchen
We created this beautiful kitchen in Hayling Island, Hampshire. Our clients’ original kitchen, an oak Shaker kitchen, felt dark and restricted, with a somewhat disjointed layout. The brief for the new kitchen design was for a much more social ambience combined with a functional living space. By adding an extension to the rear of the property, and removing an existing wall between the dining room and kitchen, we achieved all of this and more.
The natural Urbano and painted range was chosen for its sleek modern lines and space-enhancing qualities. The island unites form and function, with its distinctive circular section adding interest, whilst the design is very practical with plenty of clear worktop for prepping food. The clients liked the idea of a contrasting colour so Urbano accents were added to the design. The addition of both larders greatly increased the storage space in the kitchen which was also a high priority for the client. The introduction of the glass splash backs helped with the reflection of light in the room.
